Identification: The best way to identify a Redeye bass is to look and see if they have white and turquoise as the two main colors on the fish. The spiny and soft dorsal fin on a Redeye bass are connected and they have dark vertical bars on their sides that disappear as they age.

Size: Up to 14 inches in California, anything larger than 8 a trophy

Range: A few streams scattered around the northern part of the state. Redeye bass used to be found in New Melones Reservoir and lake Orville, but the populations there have declined to the point they may no longer be found in the two lakes.
