Identification: Common carp are very easy to identify, the only similar fish species in California are the suckers, and you can tell them apart because a common carp is much taller than them. A few key features of a common carp are the down facing mouth with a pair of barbels and the copper color on their scales. These carp can sometimes have bright yellow pelvic and anal fins.

Size: Up to around eighty pounds, I personality have never seen one bigger than thirty-five pounds.
