Identification: Brown trout are a distinctive fish that has no similar looking fish in California. When you look at a brown trout you will see a light yellow brown colored fish that has lots of red and brown dots. These trout also have yellow fins with a white border.
Size: Brown trout can reach around 45 inches long but the average size brown trout is around 16 to 20 inches.
Range: Brown trout are found pretty much through out all of northern California as well as one or two areas in southern California. brown trout are almost always found in high elevation rivers and lakes.
