Sacramento Area Fishing Spots

My name is Aidan and I love fishing, but I struggled to find places to fish near me. I created this website to help people in the Sacramento area find fishing spots near where they live, so they don’t have to go through years of finding fishing places like I did. All photographs on this website are my own, and I have fished at each of these locations.

I have a few general recommendations that may help you if you are just starting to fish.

1. If you are under sixteen, no license is required.
2. If you are over the age of sixteen, be sure to get a fishing license first. You can purchase these at most sports stores or at Walmart.
3. I like fishing with light weight fishing poles and line. Some of the fun when fishing comes from feeling the fish on the end of your rod, and a light weight pole allows you to do that.
4. Bluegill fishing is usually the easiest for beginners.
5. It is also great to take kids fishing directly after fish have been stocked in a lake or pond. To see a stocking schedule go here.
6. Worms on a hook work for almost all fish species. You can buy worms at some gas stations, fishing stores, or at Walmart.
