Identification: Redear are often a silvery gray color that sometimes will have lots of yellow, They have a bright red spot on their operculum gill plate, and sometime they will have speckles on their side.
Size: up to 18 inches, in this area, anything 11 inches or above is rare
Range: most of California, excluding the far northern region and the higher mountain lakes
